About the Opportunity
Recovery Colleges provide education platforms that bring together mental health consumers, carers and service providers to enable self-directed recovery and learning opportunities. Recovery Colleges are based on the community college model, with co-production central to the model. People with lived experience of mental illness are involved in every aspect of course development and delivery.
MDS is seeking to employ casual Peer Trainer/Tutors for our new South Western Sydney Recovery College. These positions will provide and deliver recovery and wellbeing self-management related training, working within the co-design principles of South Western Sydney Recovery College.
Key Responsibilities for these position include:
- Co-design and deliver recovery and wellbeing self-management related training to students
- Organise delivery and subsequent follow up of all materials, resources and assessment tools
- Support, encourage and engage students, including students 12 – 25 years, in recovery oriented and wellbeing self-management learning activities and programs
- Promote the function, purpose and aims of SWS Recovery College to all potential and current stakeholders
The successful applicants will have:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the design and delivery of training, particularly in the area of mental health recovery
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Certificate IV or higher in Mental Health or equivalent) and demonstrated extensive experience in a mental health peer role
- Comprehensive understanding of and commitment to recovery and wellbeing self-management principles
- Designing training and conducting training needs consultations and analysis in order to design interactive training sessions in line with co-design principles.
- Ability to teach and facilitate subjects related to recovery and self-management
- Demonstrated experience working as a team to reach service/project outcomes
- Working with Children Clearance
- Drivers Licence
- Client and/or student database experience
- Previous experience working in a Recovery College setting
The positions are casual working as required. These roles will require some after hours and weekend work. This role is covered under the SCHCADS Award Level 3 classification ($37.93 - $41.21 per hour).
