About the Opportunity
MDS is seeking to employ a Fixed-Term, Part-Time Community Care Support Officer for our Community Care Team.
Key Responsibilities for this position include:
- Work effectively with carers to achieve positive outcomes for carer and care recipient
- Operate carer support groups and other support activities in collaboration with carers and other services
- Work with carers to develop opportunities that enable them to receive mutual support and established peer-to-peer support networks
- Provide information, referral and skills development to carers that enables effective connection to supports and services across the community
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of current issues impacting on Carers of people with a disability, people with mental illness and frail aged people
- Experience in the provision of basic counselling, individual advocacy, information and referral to Carers
- Ability to develop and analyse outcomes and Carer focused capacity building programs and activities
- Demonstrated knowledge of My Aged Care system and NDIS and ability to assist carers navigate these systems
- Group work experience and skills
Desirable criteria:
- Experience developing peer-to-peer programs in community settings
- Knowledge of the Commonwealth Integrated Carer Support Service
The Position is a Fixed Term Part-Time contract until 31st May 2020 working 7 days (53.2 hours) per fortnight. The distribution of these days and hours to be negotiated with the successful candidate. This role is covered under the SCHCADS Award Level 4 ($35.12 - $37.85 per hour). Also offered is salary packing, mobile phone and leave loading.
